Good book, weak Kindle edition

The book is very useful, but the Kindle Edition I bought is problematic, because the equations are small and will not rescale or zoom, either on my Windows PC version of Kindle software, or on my Android Kindle software. A friend who got the book in PDF format of course does not have this problem.

This Series Just Keeps Getting Better!

"It Pours" proves that C.D. Cain is not only the real deal, but is an author that is growing in her skill. We were introduced to Ms. Cain's stunning visualizations in "When it Raynes" and she has surpassed herself in "It Pours". Picking up where "Raynes" let's off, we travel with Rayne through her inner turmoil of doing her duty and marrying her long-term boyfriend or following her heart. You can feel the anxiety and stress as Rayne works through her feelings about Sam and then the excitement in her life as she finally begins to understand, and accept, herself. One thing that cannot be forgotten when reviewing this book is the descriptive power Ms. Cain has. As we all felt we were front row at the funeral in the last book or sitting on the dock in the bayou, this book takes it one step farther. Ms. Cain puts you in the woods, in the hammock, by the cabin and you feel the sun and smell the trees. In short, Ms. Cain is able to transport you into the book and you are there.

I hate to pick a favorite, but "It Pours" is, so far, the best book in this series. I am so glad there are two more to come in this fascinating tale!

The bar keeps getting higher!

WOW!! I loved When It Raynes. I know some were unhappy with the ending, however, I viewed it as a developing relationship. I did not have to have all the answers in the first book. I was anxiously awaiting the release of It Pours. I was not disappointed!! I feel like I am in a full on relationship with these characters. The series, although is allegedly fiction, feels very real. Beautifully written and increased depth as the series progresses. I am excited to see where Rayne's journey takes her. It is beautiful to watch someone come into their own and grow comfortable in their own skin. Write faster, Cain!!

Exceeded all expectations, a wonderful follow up to When it Raynes.

C.D. Cain's second installment in The Chambers of the Heart series exceeded all of my expectations. When it Raynes leaves us with questions we couldn't wait to have answered, It Pours brings us in a few months later into Rayne's life after the proposal. Once again C.D. used her beautifully captivating writing style to suck us into the story feeling every emotion Rayne does as she continues her journey of loss, discovery, and being true to herself. C.D. has strayed from the classic mold of les fic romance and brought us a more true to life journey, that many of us have probably experienced. This is not your standard predictable story of girl meets girl all is happy in the end. It Pours brings a few twists that as a heavy les fic reader I'm not used to seeing. It's a refreshing change in the genre that I truly believe C.D. has mastered. Not only with her ability to paint the most clear pictures of the Louisiana bayous, the waves crashing onto the beach, and the emotions that the characters are feeling, but with her ability to create a truly wonderful reading experience. With both When it Raynes and It Pours, I have laughed, cried, become angry, and happy along with Rayne, I was able to feel her pain and happiness, that is true talent.

If the ending to WIR left you upset or unsure of this author let me tell you, she makes up for it in It Pours. I personally can not wait for the third installment and know it will be just as brilliant and captivating as the first two installments.

Through a detailed exegetical study of the texts of the biblical prophets Amos, Hosea, and First Isaiah, Marlow examines the portrayal of the relationship between YHWH the God of Israel, humanity and the non-human creation. In the course of this exegesis, searching questions emerge: what are the various understandings of the non-human creation that are present in the text? What assumptions are made about YHWH's relationship to the created world and how he acts within it? And what effect do the actions and choices of human beings have on the created world?

Following this close textual study, Marlow examines the problem of deriving ethical norms from the biblical text and discusses some key ethical debates in contemporary environmental theory. The book explores the potential contribution of the biblical exegesis to such debates and concludes by proposing an inter-relational model for reading the Old Testament prophets in the light of contemporary environmental ethics.

About the Author

Hilary Marlow is a Research Associate in theology and the environment at the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion, St Edmunds College, Cambridge. She also teaches biblical Hebrew to undergraduates in the Faculty of Divinity and sometimes lectures on the biblical prophets for the Cambridge Theological Federation. She completed her doctorate at the University of Cambridge in 2007. This is her first full-length monograph. She has a longstanding and close connection with the Christian environmental charity A Rocha, and is currently on the operations team of the John Ray Initiative.

Then the stinger- $120. Seriously?
And it seems bizarre for a book which apparently writes so passionately about the need to lower our impact on the earth not to have a kindle version for all the people who now read that way.
Perhpas there's an argument that we shouldn't have gone down the e-reader path ecologically, but it's well and truly trodden now.

About the Author

Tom Ryan is the founder of the Newburyport, Massachusetts, newspaper the Undertoad and served as its publisher and editor for more than a decade. In 2007 he moved to the White Mountains of New Hampshire with miniature schnauzer Atticus M. Finch. Over the last five years, Tom and Atticus have climbed more than 450 four-thousand-foot peaks. After raising thousands of dollars for Angell Animal Medical Center in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, the pair was inducted into the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Hall of Fame. Tom currently writes the popular The Adventures of Tom & Atticus column in the Northcountry News and Mountainside Guide, and the blog The Adventures of Tom & Atticus. Tom and Atticus live in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Beyond a 10 star review

I purchased Following Atticus for my Kindle and I loved reading it. My daughter purchased it for her Kindle and we read along together exchanging notes. We laughed, we cried and we laughed some more. I purchased other books and had fun reading them but Atticus kept coming back to mind and when I was diagnosed with cancer in August I decided to read Atticus again. My loving caring sister doesn't have a Kindle so I purchased a paper back version of Atticus for her and we are reading the book together. I am getting so much more out of it this time than the first time because now I can relate to the cancer part. I am being treated by the Dana Farber Cancer Ins. in Lebanon and the Norris Cotton Cancer center in Keene. While reading the book again I feel like Atticus. I told my sister we can conquer the cancer just like Atticus--taking the journey of the highs and lows . What an inspiration that little dog has given me. His courage and his determination is unbelievable. I Love Him. Tom you are a wise man and you have renewed my faith. Thank you Tom for all of your charity work and for your beautiful and touching description of how you raised such an amazing dog. Atticus was so very lucky to have you or should I say Fate brought you two together and you have made a better world for all of us that have read your story.

Amazing, poignant and unforgettable

I just finished reading Following Atticus and can honestly say I have not read a book in quite some time if ever that has left such an incredible impression on me. I must confess that I am an animal lover and yes have had the pleasure of owning several terrific dogs including a mini schnauzer who recently passed away. This book is about the life of an ordinary man with an extraordinary soul. His thorn filled upbringing presents the naked truths about families, tragedy and relationships. I applaud Tom for his candor and transparent accountings over and over in the book. Tom's tenacious, nurturing, intuitive and organic approach to allowing his treasured companions to discover and become their best self is humbling and inspiring. This book is a refreshing must read.

What's your wish this valentine's?

THe book is told by 3 perspectives, Jennifer, Eden and Natalie. Three completely different girls with one thing in common: Eden gets dumped by her boyfriend, Natalie's boyfriend keeps ignoring her and Jennifer has no boyfriend.
Theres a contest going on in her school of who will get voted teh most romantic couple on valentine's day.
It's mainly about Jennifer (atleast it starts off with her)
She overhears the most popular girl in school (claudia) telling her friends that she is sure to win the contest. Jennifer already disliking her opens her mouth and lies (a bad habit she has when she is around Claudia)telling Claudia that she is going to have some competition in the contest only problem is she doesnt have a boyfriend.
With teh(meaning her). Help of her best friend Violet she finds a boyfriend, not much like find more like asks Will (known as the Heartbreaker in school)to pretend to be her boyfriend until Valentine's day is over. He agrees.
And the stories develop around Valentines day.

Be Mine is a very sweet book. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to fall in love.

Good, but not great

"Be Mine" by Sabrina James is the next installment of the school year at North Ridge High. Like "Secret Santa", there are quite a few characters. The story focuses mainly on Jennifer, but brings the other characters together more than Secret Santa. All Jennifer wants is a boyfriend, and maybe to show up the school's mean girl, Claudia. Jennifer's mouth gets her in a sticky situation when she tells Claudia that she and her boyfriend are going to compete against Claudia and her boyfriend for Most Romantic Couple at the Valentine's Day dance. The only problem is that Jennifer doesn't have a boyfriend, but she won't let that stop her. Along the way, Claudia's two best friends can't figure out why Claudia's being so mean to Jennifer and realize that Claudia really isn't the type of girl they want to be friends with.
Be Mine was a good book, but I thought some of the character transitions were unbelievable. I did like that the characters were tied together more than in Secret Santa, but I would suggest reading Secret Santa over Be Mine.

While the content of the book is outstanding, the production quality is terrible. The paper quality is poor and the print is faded and not uniform throughout. Apparently this book was printed "just-in-time". I will not buy any more print books from Amazon online. I will have to see it and hold it in my hands before I spend this kind of money for their books again.

Excellent!

This is one of the best book on the market that covers the most important topics of stellar astrophysics (stellar formation, stellar atmospheres, stellar interiors, stellar evolution, etc.) at the advanced undergraduate level. The sections on the Saha equation, the radiative transfer equation, stellar atmospheres and on nucleosynthesis are excellent. The explanations of the physical phenomena are clear and direct which makes this an excellent textbook.

Text book for Physics 410

We used this text book for astrophysics class. Chapters are well written and problems are challenging. There are some examples which we found very effective in learning new materials. Those solved problems helped us to score higher in homework and in the test.
